Episcopal students participated in nine of the twelve events. The competition was strong with six high schools and eight middle schools competing in the Olympiad. Episcopal was able to earn awards in six of the nine categories.

The goal of Science Olympiad is to improve the quality of science education through competitions similar to sporting events. Just as students are motivated to compete in various sporting activities, students compete as a team against other schools in different events that include biology, chemistry, physics, engineering and earth science.

Science Olympiad Team Sponsor, Sally Russo enjoys the format of the competition, “Science Olympiad provides science students the opportunity to apply what they have learned over the years in a variety of science classes to solve a unique problem. Each event involves a team of 2 students. This allows them to work together cooperatively, share ideas and potential strategies in order to arrive at a solution to the specific problem.”
