College counseling calendar: an overview

  • Eighth-grade year
    • Eighth-grade meeting for parents and students
  • Freshman year
    • Freshmen college experience a half-day freshman program designed to help students set goals for a successful high school experience, includes "Making High School Count."
  • Sophomore year
    • PSAT preview
    • PSAT test taken by all sophomores
    • Spring workshops: half-day program including seminars taught by college admissions officers on a variety of topics: "Writing the College Essay," "Resume Building," "Colleges for the Arts," "Honors Colleges" and "Athletic Recruiting."
    • Spring mini-college fair at Episcopal
    • Sophomores assigned a college counselor
  • Junior year
    • PSAT review
    • PSAT test taken by all juniors
    • Meetings with college representatives visiting Episcopal
    • NACAC college fair in November
    • January meeting with all parents of juniors
    • Eleven-session college counseling class (February-April)
    • Spring workshops: half-day program including seminars taught by college admissions officers on a variety of topics: "Writing the College Essay," "Resume Building," "Colleges for the Arts," "Honors Colleges" and "Athletic Recruiting."
