Message from the Associate Head of School
It’s truly been a privilege for me to serve Episcopal High School as the Director of college counseling during the last six years. Although I’ve been an educator for over three decades, Episcopal is only my third school. Despite my desire to continuallygrow professionally, I’ve always found it difficult to leave a school, especially those
I’d helped to mould as an assistant head of school and headmaster. However, as soon
as I spoke with Charley Zimmer and Dale Regan, I was immediately drawn to Episcopal’s academic excellence and commitment to character development. But
it was the college conferences I had with my first senior class during the summer I arrived that immediately made Episcopal my school. I remember telling an old colleague that a school which produced students with such a commitment to excellence in both character and scholarship was where I wanted to finish my career.
These are exciting times at Episcopal, and I’m honored to serve as the assistant head of school. I believe it’s not too hard to make a school excellent…but to make an excellent school like Episcopal even better is a real challenge. It requires every constituency – faculty, administration, staff, students, parents and alumni. In addition, it takes a clear-cut mission. At Episcopal, we have all the ingredients to make that next step.
I’m confident that when you visit Episcopal, you’ll see the same things that made me fall in love. You may watch our state championship girls cross-country team in a workout, or a couple of potters, passionate about ceramics, firing their creation, or simply one student helping another understand the quadratic equation. However, what I know you will find is what I found seven years ago – a community committed to excellence. Come see for yourself.
