Vocal Programs: Concert and Honors Chorale and The Vocal Ensemble
Singers at Episcopal have the opportunity to practice ensemble and solo singing through daily chorale and honors chorale classes and through the after-school vocal ensemble program.
-
The vocal ensemble meets after school once a week, and prepares music for the Christmas and spring concerts. This after-school group also involves a community-service component. Additionally, the group travels to a Florida theme park to perform and study with music professionals each year.
The daily chorale classes prepare for our two major concerts listed above, together with weekly chapels and other musicales. These classes also focus on the study of music theory, sight-singing, singing technique, solfege, conducting, and historical perspectives. Both groups sing music ranging from the Renaissance to modern day, incorporating various styles of singing. Each group strives for sensitivity, careful tuning and rhythmic energy, focus, articulation, good stage presence and musicality. The love of music and making music together in ensemble is our driving passion.
Music is well said to be the speech of angels.”
