What is the FANS parent organization?
Fine Arts Nurturing Students is a parent support organization that serves to enhance the fine arts experience for every Episcopal High School student, beyond that provided by the Episcopal Fine Arts Department. We accomplish this in a variety of ways, including sponsoring and funding workshops, seminars, guest performers and artists; promoting fine arts events; and planning, organizing, funding and hosting various receptions for the fine arts disciplines. FANS meets the second Thursday of each month at 8:30 a.m. in the Munnerlyn Center Conference Room. Please refer to the Fine Arts calendar for exact dates. New members are always welcome!
How can I volunteer?
FANS volunteers are vital, and we welcome your involvement and participation! We have volunteer opportunities to suit every level of interest, including reception-planning, organizing, and hosting; event promotion; ticket sales assistance; and other hands-on activities. You can volunteer by completing and returning the FANS membership form.
How are membership dues used?
FANS membership dues provide essential support to various endeavors that enhance the fine arts experience for students, such as providing financial assistance that enables students to participate in various off-campus events, funding guest artists and other Fine Arts Week activities, as well as the Christmas Band and Choral Concert, the Spring Dance Concert, and many other receptions and activities. One of our primary roles is to fund guest teachers who work with our students in the Fine Arts.
For example, FANS helped sponsor a week-long workshop for Upper School dancers with famous Bollywood choreographer Rujuta Vaidya.
Ms. Vaidya taught the dancers a classical Bollywood piece that will be featured in the Winter Dance Concert, Breathe. Below is a photo of Ms. Vaidya and the Episcopal dancers.
