The School’s buy-back policies are as follows:

  • For credit to be given to the student returning the book, the textbook must have been purchased from the School bookstore.
  • If a book that was not bought from the School bookstore is returned, provided that the book is an approved Episcopal textbook for 2008-2009, a minimal amount may be credited to the account, depending on the condition of the textbook. This will apply to books from such sources as Amazon or vendors other than the Episcopal bookstore.
  • For the 2008 buy-back only, if you paid cash, check or money order for your books last summer or at the beginning of the school year, please be sure you have your receipt available at the time of buy-back. Cash sales will be traceable in the future.
  • All books brought in for possible buy-back will be compared to the list of those which are no longer being used at Episcopal; they will also be inspected to ensure they’re in adequate condition for resale. If you have books which are not eligible for buyback credit, and you’d like to keep them, you must ask for them back when you bring them in for review and inspection. The School annually contracts with a firm which removes and recycles all unusable books left at the bookstore; once a book has been taken away, it’s not possible for us to retrieve it.

Book buy-back guidelines:

  • A student ID card is required to return books.
  • If you paid by cash, check or money order, remember to bring your receipt with you for buy-back returns.
  • Remember ANY books returned to the Bookstore during buy back are not retrievable once they have been left. Be sure to check with your parents before leaving or returning any books.
  • Any writing in books that can be erased should be done as to help with the condition of the book, allowing the book to be returned and resold as a used book.
  • All Bookcovers must be removed from the book prior to return.
  • ALL papers must be removed from the books prior to return.
